Evgeny Kuznetsov had a monster game in the Washington Capitals’ 5-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday night that had his teammates singing his praises. Kuznetsov scored a goal on three shots and added three assists in the game. That gives him seven points in three games this season.
After the game, teammates TJ Oshie said Kuznetsov is a top-five player in the NHL. Kuznetsov was asked what he thought about that and gave a blunt response.
“I don’t give a shit about that,” he said, via The Washington Post’s Isabelle Khurshudyan.

Caps fans probably love that answer. They’d much rather see a guy who is focusing on the team and winning rather than individual accolades.
If Kuznetsov keeps playing this well, the recognition will come. He already has gained plenty after putting up 83 points in last year’s regular season and a whopping 32 points in the postseason.
