Flyers fans had their anti-Penguins jerseys censored

Philadelphia Flyers fans don’t like the Pittsburgh Penguins, and for the most part the feeling is mutual. No one would be surprised to walk into either team’s arena and see shirts that rag on the opposition, but that doesn’t mean security will tolerate them. On Sunday, Josh Kuchinka and two of his buddies found that out at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

As you can see from the photo above that he posted on Twitter, Kuchinka and his buddies each wore a Flyers jersey that said something derogatory about three of the Penguins stars. The sweaters read “Malkin Blows,” “Crosby Sucks,” and “Neal Swallows.” Several fans wanted photos with the creative trio, but security wanted the charade to stop.

“Either you take them off or wear them inside out or you’re being tossed out of here,” Kuchinka said he and his friends were told, according to Greg Wyshynski of Puck Daddy. “This isn’t Philly. We don’t allow those things.”

Kuchinka said other security guards laughed and apologized because they realized how many people were enjoying the jerseys. Still, they were warned ahead of time that they had better be on their best behavior.

“They also said the first vulgar words out of our mouths and we were out of there,” Kuchinka said. “We even told them we would cooperate with them. We were there to support the Flyers and have a good time.”

The Flyers ended up winning the game, and we’re happy to help the creative Philly fans get some press for their customized threads. The Penguins may not enjoy that type of humor, but we certainly do.
