Winnipeg Jets rookie defenseman Tyrel Bauer comes into games as though Bruce Buffer is introducing him every time.
In just his second game in the NHL, Bauer scored a big knockdown during a wild fight against Detroit Red Wings forward and veteran Keegan Kolesar during the first period of Sunday’s showdown at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich.
Before the scuffle, Bauer earned the ire of the Red Wings when he delivered a huge hit along the boards on Detroit skater J.T. Compher. Kolesar then immediately dropped his gloves and confronted Bauer, who rocked Kolesar with two big punches to put him down on the ice.
Here is a video of that entire sequence.

A slo-mo video of an enraged Bauer shows Kolesar seemingly going unconscious for a moment after taking a hard left to the chin.

Bauer and Kolesar each received a five-minute penalty for fighting. Kolesar got two more minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the Jets took advantage by scoring the first goal of the contest on the power play, courtesy of Cole Perfetti, with a little over seven minutes left in the opening period.
Bauer and the Jets held on to their lead the rest of the way, eking out a 3-2 victory, their first of the 2026-27 season.
