New York Rangers veteran netminder Jonathan Quick blew his fuse during an unexpected appearance between the pipes on Monday against the Utah Mammoth at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.
Quick, who subbed in for injured starter Igor Shesterkin, had a collision in front of the net with Mammoth forward Daniil But early in the second period. But was trying to control the puck but lost his balance and collided with Quick.
The impact caused the net to come loose, as Quick immediately got up and angrily went after But. Quick shoved the Mammoth skater before Rangers defenseman Urho Vaakanainen wrapped his arms around But and took him away from the goalie.

Before play resumed, But was slapped with a goalie interference penalty, while the three-time Stanley Cup champion Quick was hit with roughing, which was served by Rangers center Jonny Brodzinski.
The 39-year-old Quick wasn’t supposed to see action against the Mammoth, but he was called on to patrol the crease after Shesterkin left in the first period with an apparent lower-body injury.
Ultimately, the Rangers fell prey to Utah via overtime, 3-2. Quick couldn’t take care of a 2-1 lead in the second period, as he allowed a game-tying goal in the third frame to forward Michael Carcone and the game-winning goal in overtime to defenseman Sean Durzi.
