Matt Calvert has teeth smashed out by high stick

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Matt Calvert took a high stick to the face last night that completely rearranged his smile.

It didn’t matter to San Jose Sharks fans that Calvert had his teeth knocked out and was bleeding profusely from the mouth. They still booed the call. Because he’s a hockey player, Calvert got some attention from a team trainer on the bench and returned to the game shortly thereafter. His mouth was a mess.

Plenty of hockey players have messed up teeth to begin with, but Calvert wasn’t one of them. Here’s what his smile looked like during team pictures last month.

Poor bastard. Hopefully those preseason chicklets were fake anyway. At least he didn’t have to pick his own teeth up off the ice. We’ve seen that before and it’s not pretty.
