Hockey, guarantee victory, Mike Babcock, Toronto Maple Leafs

Mike Babcock has bold quote after Game 5 defeat

The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing elimination in their NHL Playoff first-round series against the Washington Capitals, but coach Mike Babcock is convinced his squad isn’t done just yet.

The Maple Leafs lost to the Washington Capitals 2-1 in overtime at the Verizon Center Friday, which sends them back to Toronto’s Air Canada Centre for a do-or-die Game 6 on Sunday. Babcock made clear that he’s expecting a return to D.C. for Game 7, though.

"See you in a couple days."

Mike Babcock said this to every staff-member at Verizon Center as he walked to the team bus.

This sounds an awful lot like a guaranteed victory, which, as you can see, sometimes works out better than other times. The players probably appreciate the belief, though.
