Sharks fans, avert your eyes. This is the type of mistake that reminds San Jose fans of all the years of early playoff exits and chokes, and one that probably had LBS writer Sawley Vickrey throwing chairs across his living room like Bob Knight.
Early in the first period of Game 2 between the Blues and Sharks in St. Louis, a slap shot from Vladimir Sobotka trickled past Sharks goalie Antti Niemi. Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic tried clearing the puck but accidentally pushed it into his own net giving the Blues a 1-0 lead.
With a start like that, it’s no surprise the Sharks lost 3-0 to tie the series at 1. Game 3 will be on Monday in San Jose.
