Bill Simmons goes off on Mike Golic after Golic calls him out
Mike Golic on Thursday criticized Bill Simmons and one of The Sports Guy’s takes on LeBron James, and Simmons is not happy about it.
On Wednesday, Simmons compared LeBron James and his slow start with the Cleveland Cavaliers to Albert Pujols with the Los Angeles Angels. Simmons’ point was that LeBron’s struggles early in the season may be indicative of a decline in skill. Here’s what Golic said about it on Thursday’s edition of “Mike and Mike in the Morning.”
“I think it’s one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve heard — four games into a season — in my life in any sport,” he said. “That’s what I’ll say about Bill Simmons. Though, he grabbed a headline, which is something I know he loves. It’s one of the most ridiculous lines I’ve ever heard in any sport in my life.”
Simmons was furious, and he responded by going off on Golic on Twitter.
What Mike and Mike did today was absolute garbage. I would say I lost respect for that show, but I never had it. http://t.co/LRd8YzFfO8

For an ESPN Radio show to pull an interview out of context from another ESPN Radio show, then play the moral authority card, is disgusting.

Have the balls to call me to discuss it on the show. Don't pull it out of context just because you need fodder for a segment. Pathetic.

But hey – I'm just a guy who can't evolve, right? http://t.co/XJ0GWbc5gJ

As you know, Simmons and Golic both work for ESPN. That’s what makes this kind of awkward. Simmons is also always at the center of controversy, which is why he just recently came back from a six-game suspension for saying a bunch of stuff about NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Don’t be surprised when the higher-ups force Simmons and Golic to kiss and make up.
