Rece Davis to replace Chris Fowler as host of ESPN ‘GameDay’
Rece Davis will replace Chris Fowler as the host of ESPN’s popular “GameDay” show during college football season, according to a report.
James Andrew Miller, who co-authored the infamous ESPN book “Those Guys Have All the Fun,” reported the news via Twitter.
Come this fall, @ESPN_ReceDavis will replace @cbfowler on @CollegeGameDay @espn #CollegeGameday

Remember, @cbfowler still has plenty of big assignments w/ @KirkHerbstreit @ESPNCFB Tennis majors, etc. @espn couldn't lose @ESPN_ReceDavis

Fowler has been the host of “GameDay” since 1990, but things became complicated last season after he was elevated to the top play-by-play team with Kirk Herbstreit, replacing Brent Musburger. If “GameDay” were hosted in a different city from the evening game, Fowler would have to travel to make it on time for the late game. The double-duty is a tough thing to pull off, and ESPN apparently felt it was time to move Davis into that role. Davis already had a huge presence on ESPN’s college football coverage as the network’s studio host.
