Anderson Silva reportedly wants rematch with Chris Weidman

Anderson Silva Chris WeidmanAnderson Silva said after losing to Chris Weidman at UFC 162 last weekend that he was not interested in a rematch, but he may have already changed his mind.

According to Brazilian MMA reporter Guilherme Cruz, Lauro Jardim of Veja says Silva wants a rematch with Weidman for February 2014. Jardim is the editor-in-chief of Veja, which is Brazil’s largest magazine, per Cruz.

UFC boss Dana White said that he expected to have a rematch between the two for the New Year’s card, but Silva may prefer to push that back until the Super Bowl card.

Silva entered the UFC 162 fight having won 17 contests in a row, but he did not show enough respect to Weidman in the octagon. While Silva put on his customary show of ducking and dodging punches, he got caught by Weidman and was knocked out in the second round of their match. Weidman is a relative newcomer to UFC and 10-0 after his upset win. Sportsbooks have Silva has the slight favorite for the potential rematch.
