Conor McGregor seems to be goading Floyd Mayweather

Conor McGregor seems to be goading Floyd Mayweather amid rumors of the boxer potentially heading to the UFC.

ESPN shared a photo on Twitter Thursday of a young Mayweather and photoshopped UFC gloves onto his fists.

Their tweet seemed like a trial balloon to see what the fan reaction would be. They also found out what McGregor’s reaction would be.

The “virgin ears” tweet came a day after McGregor, unsolicited, tweeted “p—y.” Many figured that tweet was intended for Mayweather.

On Wednesday, UFC boss Dana White said he’s talking with Mayweather about a potential UFC deal. That got things stirred up, but Mayweather seemed to shoot down the likelihood of that happening.

“I never said I was going to fight in the UFC,” Mayweather told FightHype. “I didn’t say that. I said if I wanted to, and what I could do. Would and could do is different things. I’m not going to do it though.”

“They talk about ‘oh yeah Floyd said he’s fighting in the UFC for a billion dollars’. That’s not what I said.
“Exactly what I said is this: If I made over a billion dollars before, I could do it again. If I chose to get in the UFC and fight three fights or fight four fights and then fight Conor McGregor, I could make a billion dollars, which I can.

“I could do it in three fights, or even four fights, I can make a billion dollars if I choose to get in the octagon and fight. Fight three or four fights and then fight Conor McGregor in the octagon.”

The likelihood of Mayweather following a 3 or 4-fight plan in the UFC seems quite unlikely considering he’s 40 and hasn’t fought in MMA before. He would need to train extensively before his first fight, then would need recovery time before his following fights.

If he were to go into the octagon for a big payday, a one-time spectacle fight against someone who has a lot of marketability but limited MMA experience seems much more plausible. You know, someone like this.
