Miesha Tate rips UFC for not giving her another shot at Ronda Rousey

Miesha Tate

Miesha Tate was led to believe that she was going to get a third chance to fight Ronda Rousey, but it is starting to look like that won’t happen. As you might imagine, Tate is furious about it.

After expressing disappointment a month ago over Holly Holm getting the next fight against Rousey, Tate was much more animated in a recent interview with Ground and Pound TV.

“I’m very frustrated with the UFC,” Tate said, as transcribed by Nate Scott of For the Win. “I’m not in a position where I feel like I need to be pushed around and, ‘Oh, you take this fight, take that fight.’ It makes no sense to me why I’m not the champion and yet I’m fighting all the No. 1 contenders. Amanda Nunes is ranked No. 4 and Holm is ranked No. 8.

“What is wrong with that picture? I’m not the champion and I’m fighting better girls than the champion is fighting and I’m not getting paid what the champion is getting paid. That is the champion’s job: to fight the best girls in the world. When I’m the champion, we’ll talk.”

You can understand why Tate is disappointed after getting her hopes up, but she is talking like a fighter who hasn’t gotten a title shot. The reason she has not been given a third fight against Rousey is because Rousey already beat her twice. Although, Tate insists she would not be defeated a third time.

In an interview with “UFC Tonight” on FOX Sports 1 last week, Tate said she was offended when Dana White said a third fight against Rousey could be a “career-killer” for her.

“I don’t care what anybody thinks. I don’t plan on losing to Ronda a third time, so it’s sort of offensive that he’s just counting me out,” she said, via MMA Junkie. “It bothers me a little bit, but he thinks what he thinks and I don’t know what to say. What do I say to that?”

Rousey has expressed a willingness to fight Tate a third time, but we know the fight everyone wants to see after Rousey’s bout against Holm. Tate may not get another chance.
