Twitter reacts to defending champion Germany being eliminated from World Cup
Germany entered the 2018 World Cup as one of the favorites to win after taking home the championship in 2014, but their fans were left extremely disappointed after their performance in the group stage.
With Mexico having been dominated by Sweden, Germany had a chance to stay alive with a win over South Korea on Wednesday. They were unable to score a goal, and South Korea found the back of the net twice in the final minutes to seal Germany’s fate.
Germany not only failed to advance, they also finished in last place in their group. Twitter let them have it:

Germany lost to Mexico 1-0 in the first match of the group stage and then just barely avoided a draw against Sweden with an incredible free kick in stoppage time. That would end up being the lone bright spot in the tournament for the defending champions.
To put things in perspective, Germany had reached at least the quarterfinals in every World Cup since 1954.
