Kevin Love cracks perfect joke about his clothing line

Kevin Love

Kevin Love certainly seems to have a sense of humor about the issues he has been facing.

Love was a guest on ESPN’s “The Jump” on Friday and talked about his clothing line with Banana Republic. Love noted that some of the clothes were for the fall season, and that’s when things got funny.

It’s not lost on Love that he’s been regarded as the fall guy for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Just last month the team held a meeting and questioned the legitimacy of Love’s illness that caused him to miss a practice and most of a game. A recent report actually seemed to identify the person who instigated the Love drama.

Report: Dwyane Wade instigated Kevin Love drama with Cavaliers

Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade was one of many shipped out by the Cleveland Cavaliers at the trade deadline, and apparently his behind-the-scenes behavior wasn’t quite as good as advertised.

According to Joe Vardon of, Wade was the first Cavaliers player to challenge coach Tyronn Lue about the whereabouts of Kevin Love after he left the team’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 20. Wade is also described as “an instigator” in the blowout team meeting two days later in which Love was questioned by teammates.

This reportedly set in motion the effort to trade Wade, who was ultimately offered and accepted the opportunity to return to the Miami Heat.

Previously, a different Cavaliers player — who is also out the door now — was blamed for the Love fiasco. It sounds like Wade, a veteran who’s highly regarded as a good teammate, wasn’t blameless.

Kevin Love meeting with specialist in New York

Kevin Love

Kevin Love is meeting with a surgical specialist in New York after suffering a broken bone in his left hand on Tuesday night.

The Cleveland Cavaliers released a statement on Wednesday as an update about Love. He is at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, which is where he’s undergone previous operations. Here’s the team’s statement on Love:

The Cavs say that Love is out indefinitely. However, a report immediately after Love suffered his injury on Tuesday night said he was expected to be out 6-8 weeks.

The Cavs started Jae Crowder in Love’s place on Wednesday.

Report: Kevin Love may need surgery on broken hand

Kevin Love

Kevin Love’s broken hand could be serious enough to require surgery, according to a report.

Yahoo Sports’s Shams Charania reported Monday that Love’s injury, which will keep him out for up to two months, may require surgery, though this is not yet determined.

Whatever the case, Love is looking at an absence until late March or perhaps even the start of April. That’s not good news for a Cavaliers team that has been streaky and struggling as of late. Their playoff spot isn’t in jeopardy, but they’re probably not going to be a top seed at this rate, even if they get Love back ahead of the playoffs.

Report: Kevin Love likely out 6-8 weeks with broken bone in hand

Kevin Love

Kevin Love could be looking at a lengthy absence after suffering a hand injury during Tuesday night’s Cleveland Cavaliers-Detroit Pistons game.

Love exited the game in the first quarter after playing just five minutes because of a left hand injury. Love was trying to receive an entry pass down low and was swatted at by two Pistons defenders. He grabbed his hand immediately and headed into the locker room for X-rays.

The Cavs later said that Love has a broken bone in his hand.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that Love’s injury will likely keep him out 6-8 weeks.

The Cavs are already having a tough time as the No. 3 seed in the East, and now they will be without Love for an extended period of time. Although, based on the way things have been going for the team lately, some Cavs players may not be too disappointed by the news.

Kevin Love leaves Cavs game for X-rays on his hand

Kevin Love

Kevin Love left Tuesday’s Cleveland Cavaliers-Detroit Pistons game with a hand injury and went for X-rays.

Love exited the game in the first quarter and was reported to have gone into the locker room to see the extent of the injury.

Love took a lob pass inside and had a few Pistons players swat at him, which could have injured his hand. He was seen grabbing at his hand immediately.

The Cavs forward had only played five minutes before exiting the game.

Suffering a hand injury not long after his teammates had questioned the legitimacy of a previous injury probably won’t help his standing with his teammates, even if this one is legitimate.

Kevin Love throws warmups in Jeff Green’s face (Video)

Kevin Love didn’t have a lot of love for one of his Cleveland Cavaliers teammates on Friday.

Coming out of a timeout during a game against the Indiana Pacers, the television broadcast caught the five-time All-Star throwing his warmups right in the face of fellow Cavs forward Jeff Green. Love appeared nonchalant about it, but Green’s reaction to being treated like a coat rack pretty much said it all.

Granted, the incident itself was probably harmless — perhaps good-natured ribbing between teammates if anything. But amidst all the real drama between Love and his teammates recently, it’s an interesting look at the very least.

LeBron James did not promise Kevin Love to pick him for All-Star team

LeBron James Kevin Love

Kevin Love is not receiving any promises from LeBron James about the All-Star Game.

This year’s All-Star Game will feature the top two players in votes received serving as captains for teams they pick in a draft. That means it will be up to Stephen Curry and James to select their rosters. Apparently James has given his Cavaliers teammate no assurances.

Love tweeted the following comment on Wednesday about how it would be cool to potentially team with his childhood friend, Klay Thompson.

That prompted ESPN’s Dave McMenamin to tweet that James could not guarantee he would be able to get his Cavs teammate on his All-Star team.

Unfortunately for fans who love drama, the draft will not be televised. The full All-Star rosters for each squad will be revealed on Thursday.

If James wants to avoid more media drama, he should make a strong effort to draft his teammate, who has been scapegoated recently.

Tyronn Lue says it would be ‘crazy’ to blame Kevin Love for Cavs’ struggles

Tyronn Lue

Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue is not buying the Kevin Love blame game.

Love played just three minutes in Cleveland’s 148-124 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder last Saturday, citing an illness that some teammates did not believe was legitimate. For his part, Lue thinks it’s “crazy” that Love is being blamed in any way for the performance against the Thunder.

“I mean, that’s crazy,” Lue said, via Joe Vardon of “If Kevin was out there we might have given up 170. Who knows, man. We’ve got to be better, got to just stay together. We’re being tested right now. This is when your true character comes out and the character of who you are as a person and as a player. We’ve got to step up and play basketball.”

It certainly sounds like Lue isn’t endorsing the ire some of his players were reportedly feeling toward Love. Perhaps that’s one reason for a possible disconnect between the coach and his players.

Jae Crowder does not help Kevin Love up off floor (Video)

Kevin Love Jae Crowder

Jae Crowder isn’t exactly helping dispel the narrative that Cleveland Cavaliers players are frustrated with Kevin Love.

During the third quarter of the Cavaliers’ loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, Love got knocked to the floor while going for a defensive rebound. He put his hand out hoping Crowder would help him off the floor, but Crowder just walked past him:

Crowder may have been frustrated about allowing the basket, but this still doesn’t look good given recent reports. The Cavaliers had a meeting on Monday in which Love was reportedly targeted. He seems to have become a scapegoat as the team struggles.

Interestingly, the same thing happened to Kevin Love when LeBron didn’t help him up back in 2015. The two later teamed up to win a championship, which seemed to help their relationship.
