If there is a family that embodies the Michigan State football tradition more than the Bulloughs, I’d like to know about them. Max Bullough is a junior linebacker for the Spartans and one of the team captains. He’s following in the footsteps of his father, Shane, who was a linebacker in the ’80s and also a team captain. But that’s not where the Bullough-Michigan State football legacy ends.
Bullough’s grandfather, Hank, was a guard for the Spartans from ’52-’54. Two of Max’s uncles played for Michigan State. Another uncle played college football for Notre Dame, as did Bullough’s other grandfather.
Max’s younger brother, Riley, is currently a freshman linebacker on the team.
“Green blood runs through our veins,” Bullough said in a clip featured on ABC during the Michigan State-Notre Dame game on Saturday.
Yes, it clearly does. I just wonder if all the family members have that sick “Spartan Pride” tattoo.
