Carly Rae Jepsen makes first pitch Hall of Shame (Video)
Singer Carly Rae Jepsen threw out the first pitch prior to Sunday’s Tampa Bay Rays-Houston Astros game, and it did not go well. The Canadian vocalist uncorked a 15-footer that barely made it past the pitching mound. It looked more like a football spike than an attempt at a baseball pitch. Jepsen was definitely embarrassed, because she placed her hands on her face after the dude and then threw her arms up in a sarcastic manner.
This pitch was just doomed from the start. I think Jepsen was trying to get the leadoff batter to hit a grounder, because she went up there with a palm ball grip:
Who’s this girl’s pitching coach? If she wanted to throw a pitch with some sink action, I would have recommended a fastball grip.
Oh well, this doesn’t at all change my opinion of Jepsen. She’s still a great singer and reacted well to the blunder. And it’s not like we haven’t seen awful first pitches from actual athletes. Remember what quarterback Denard Robinson did?
