Chris Bosh on Playing for Heat vs. Raptors: It’s All About Being On TV

October 27, 2010 by Steve DelVecchio • Comments

Either the Miami Heat really, really don’t care what people think about them, or some of their players tend to not think before they speak.  As we all know, Tuesday night’s Celtics-Heat game was an absolute media frenzy.  There were reporters and cameras everywhere, tickets going for thousands of dollars as though it were Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Delonte West masks, you name it.  Apparently, that has a lot to do with why Chris Bosh chose to leave Toronto for Miami.

When Bosh was finished with his pre-game shoot around on Tuesday night, reporters caught up with him to ask about his decision to leave the Raptors and sign with the Heat.  Bosh took that opportunity not to talk about winning a championship, but to touch on the fact that nobody really cares about the Raptors.

I mean, really it’s all about being on TV at the end of the day,” Bosh said following the pre-game shoot around. “If you look around, there’s more cameras than I’ve seen in a month, maybe two months probably in a season combined. It’s a little different.”

“Seriously, a guy can average (20 points and 10 rebounds) and nobody cares. If you don’t see it, it doesn’t really happen.”

You hear that, kids?  You might as well quit now.  If your games aren’t on TV, you aren’t even playing.  Forget about that 20-point game you were excited about or that game-winner you hit at the buzzer.  It didn’t happen.  Your parents may have seen it, but it wasn’t nationally televised.  Did you see hundred of cameras around the court when it happened?  I didn’t think so.  If you ain’t playing in front of a live TV audience, you ain’t playing.
