Giancarlo Stanton reportedly has broken bone in hand
Giancarlo Stanton suffered a hand injury during Friday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he will be missing some time as a result.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Stanton has a broken bone in his left hand. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. The 25-year-old slugger initially hurt his hand on a swing and miss in the sixth inning, but he remained in the game. After striking out in the ninth, Stanton was seen grimacing in pain.
As for the consequences of the injury, Rosenthal notes that the Miami Marlins could become sellers at the trade deadline.
“My bat dug into my hand a little bit,” Stanton told reporters after the game, via ESPN.com. “It didn’t feel the greatest. Just get checked out and then know for sure what’s going on.”
As expected, Stanton has been smashing the ball this season. He leads all of baseball with 27 home runs and 67 RBIs. Not being able to watch him do stuff like this would be a major buzzkill for all baseball fans.
