Giancarlo Stanton hits longest home run in Citi Field history (Video)
During Saturday’s game between the Marlins and Mets, Giancarlo Stanton hit one of the longest home runs of the season and the longest in the short history of Citi Field.
In the top of the ninth inning, the Marlins right fielder got hold of a pitch from Alex Torres and launched into the second deck, 466 ft. from home plate. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the ball left Stanton’s bat at a ridiculous 114.5 mph.
Perhaps the most amazing part is that this would only be Stanton’s fourth-longest home run of the season. He has also crushed ones 475 ft., 474 ft., and hit a 467 ft. blast that completely left Dodger Stadium.
