Matt Williams booed after press conference by angry fans (Video)
The frustration among Washington Nationals fans is so strong that manager Matt Williams was booed out of his postgame press conference on Tuesday night.
The Nationals blew a 7-1 lead on the New York Mets Tuesday and lost 8-7 to fall to six games back in the NL East. Nats fans have been frustrated with the team for its underperforming ways all season long. They also have been upset with the way Williams has managed his bullpen, specifically pointing to pitching Casey Janssen instead of Jonathan Papelbon in a couple of key losses to the Cardinals last week.
That all came to a head following Tuesday’s game as the boos were audible when Williams cleared out of the media room:
Between Williams being booed and what Bryce Harper said about Nats fans Monday, the wheels are completely coming off in D.C. This is a team that was projected by many to potentially win the World Series. Now it looks like they won’t even make the playoffs.
