Micah Johnson needed stitches because of injury suffered pitting avocado
Dodgers second baseman Micah Johnson, a depth player who will likely start the season in the minors, will miss a week of spring training due to a left hand injury. This isn’t terribly newsworthy until you learn how Johnson suffered said injury.
1st injury of spring: #Dodgers Micah Johnson needed stitches in left hand. Mishap trying to remove avocado pit. Should heal in a week.

Pitting avocados is extremely hazardous, my friends. You never know what could happen. If it required stitches, he must have gotten himself pretty good. If nothing else, Johnson’s getting more attention than he likely would have all spring had he not wounded himself thanks to an avocado.
Remarkably, this isn’t even the first story of a baseball player suffering some sort of malady while preparing food. Stay safe, major leaguers. Food preparation can be a dangerous game.
