Desmond Jennings is about to catch the next plane out of Tampa Bay.
The Rays announced on Friday that they will be releasing the struggling outfielder on Saturday.
The #Rays will be releasing OF Desmond Jennings tomorrow.

The 29-year-old used to be one of the top prospects in the Rays organization and has been with the team for his entire seven-season big league career. But Jennings has been having a miserable 2016 campaign, batting .200/.281/.350 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs. Various lower body injuries have also limited Jennings to just 93 games in the last two seasons combined and robbed him of the 30-plus stolen base speed he once possessed (as evidenced by plays like this).
Jennings seems like damaged goods at this point, but don’t underestimate the willingness of MLB teams to snag cheap outfield depth anywhere they can get it for the stretch run of the season.
