A bald eagle that was part of the Minnesota Twins’ home opener festivities on Thursday went rogue and ended up landing on the shoulder of Seattle Mariners pitcher James Paxton.
Paxton was standing at attention with his hand over his heart after warming up in left field. He was surprised to have the eagle land on his shoulder, but he didn’t flinch.

That’s an A+ for Paxton on his composure.
The Twins broke out all the stops for the home opener, including having the US Olympic men’s curling team that won gold in South Korea make an appearance pregame. The eagle certainly made things entertaining, even if matters didn’t go exactly as planned.
