Yankees reportedly interested in trading for Jose Quintana

The New York Yankees have no lefties in their rotation outside of an aging CC Sabathia, and they’re looking to address that deficiency this offseason.

According to a report by Jon Morosi of MLB Network on Monday, the Yankees, who have the right young prospects to offer, are interested in trading for Chicago White Sox southpaw Jose Quintana.

Quintana, who will turn 28 in January, is coming off a 2016 campaign where he went 13-12 with a 3.20 ERA and made his first career All-Star appearance. He is owed $15.85 million over the next two seasons with club options for both 2019 and 2020.

The Colombian already attracted some trade interest at last year’s deadline. With the White Sox shaking up their core by trading ace Chris Sale to the Boston Red Sox earlier this month, now might be as good of a time as any to see if Quintana is available as well.
