Warriors GM Bob Myers is ‘not going to apologize’ for loaded roster

The Golden State Warriors are loaded, and their general manager isn’t sorry about it.

GM Bob Myers has heard the talk of the Warriors being the league’s new villains for adding Kevin Durant, but he said he isn’t apologizing for the team’s stacked personnel. In fact, he would simply remind everyone that it wasn’t long ago that the franchise was one of the NBA’s also-rans.

“You remember what we had to watch?” Myers said Thursday, via Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area. “We watched teams come here and destroy our team. We didn’t have any of those players. So I’m not going to apologize.”

Myers feels that the league simply evolves and different teams get their chance to make their mark, and right now it’s Golden State’s time.

“There have been some amazing teams in the NBA in the last 15, 20, 25 years. Everybody gets their turn,” Myers said. “Maybe this is our time to see what we can do with a talented group of players.

“Man, we waited. If you’re a fan of this team, you had to be patient. You had to wait.”

The Warriors have been on the defensive because of the Durant signing and accusations of wrecking competitive balance. The team simply did what they were entitled to do, though. Myers shouldn’t apologize. There’s no need to.
