DeMar DeRozan takes responsibility for Raptors’ Game 3 loss
DeMar DeRozan is facing the music now that his Toronto Raptors sit just two losses away from a first-round exit.
After an embarrassing 104-77 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday put Toronto down 2-1 in their playoff series, the All-Star shooting guard shouldered the blame for that Game 3 showing.
“There’s another side of me that’s going to come out for having a game like that, feeling like I let my team down,” DeRozan said to the media after the Raptors practiced on Friday. “And every individual out there feels the same way, so it’s gonna be a different team tomorrow.”
DeRozan was particularly awful in Game 3, finishing with just eight points on 0-for-8 shooting from the field. He’s now averaging just 19.3 points per game on 34.0 percent shooting for the series after putting up 27.3 points a night on 46.7 percent shooting during the regular season.
The former No. 9 overall pick has been known to find motivation wherever he can get it, but it sounds like he understands that self-motivation is what he needs now to snap out of his funk and help the Raptors get back in the series.
