Drake denied access to Miami Heat locker room (Video)

Drake Heat lockerIt’s been a bad run for rappers this postseason, and that trend continued on Thursday after the Miami Heat won the NBA title.

Rapper Drake was one of many VIPs who attended Game 7 of the NBA Finals in Miami, but he found out the hard way that he is not as important as he thinks.

Drake and a few members of his entourage were denied access to the Heat locker room after the team won the championship with a 95-88 win over the San Antonio Spurs. In the video seen above, which was recorded by ESPN Radio West Palm AM 760/106.3 FM, Drake is told by a security guard that he is not allowed to enter the Heatlocker room because he is not a member of the media.

Drake pleaded with security, saying, “I am media,” but he still was pushed back anyway.

If there’s any consolation, at least Drake had some excellent seats to the game. Take a look:

Drake being denied entrance to the locker room must have been disappointing to LeBron James. The two are close, and James has even referred to Drake as his “brother” and someone from whom he draws inspiration. A few years ago, James even joined Drake on stage and rapped with him at the Ohio House of Blues.

No doubt he would have liked to see Drake during the celebration. At least the two ended up together at the club later on at night, as Eye on Basketball pointed out:

Look who's in the building @storysobe @kingjames wade n drake. Turn up #miami360 #miamibeach #miami

As for other rapper-related incidents, we had Flo Rida’s manager claim Gregg Popovich prevented him from attending Heat-Spurs games this postseason, and Lil Wayne say he’s avoiding Heat games so that he doesn’t make a scene.
