LeBron, Cavs, Going Too Hollywood?

lebron-fantasy-basketball-campWhen we talk about the Cavs going to Hollywood, we’re not even including Delonte West starring in the remake of Demolition Man. But in case you missed it since we’re out of season, LeBron James has been quite busy participating in several projects lately. First, LeBron made the rounds promoting the film More Than a Game which included 10 tour stops. After that project was completed and promoted to death, LeBron embarked on his book tour promoting his new tome, “Shooting Stars.” And as if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy for the summer, LeBron has also agreed to play himself in the comedy film “Fantasy Basketball Camp” by Universal Pictures. From the sounds of things, LeBron’s going to have a fairly large role in the movie.

Now I’m not saying you can’t have other interests outside of basketball or that athletes can’t act in movies and still have good careers (Ray Allen, Michael Jordan, Shaq come to mind), but I’m saying that we know how he’s spending a lot of his time and it’s not necessarily on basketball. Of course this could be a good thing because it can help prevent burn out, but there’s no doubt LeBron has had more than his share of distractions this offseason. Combine this with Shaq’s TV show on ABC and there’s no doubt the Cavs are going to have to do a lot of work to get focused for the upcoming training camp. Last time I checked I hadn’t heard about any movies Garnett or Pierce are promoting, not to mention the fact that the Magic are the defending champs. This is not a good way to head into the season, that’s all I’m saying.
