Marshall Plumlee paid cabbie to run red light so he could make his NBA debut
New York Knicks rookie center Marshall Plumlee certainly had an NBA debut to remember on Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks.
Plumlee was called up from the D-League for the early afternoon game on very short notice with Joakim Noah being a late scratch because of an illness. Afterwards, Plumlee revealed that he had to sprint through the streets of New York City and pay a cabbie $60 to run a red light just to get to Madison Square Garden on time, per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

The 24-year-old big man ultimately was late, arriving at the arena midway through the first quarter of the game (which tipped off at noon) after receiving the emergency call at 10 AM, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Plumlee, who has mostly been known to this point as a mere prop for his more famous older brothers, finished his debut with zero points and one rebound in just five minutes of action but emerged with one heck of a story.
