Ray Allen to wear ‘Shuttlesworth’ jersey during game
This past offseason, the NBA announced that it would allow players to wear “nickname jerseys” for select games during the 2013-2014 regular season. Some of the nicknames players chose will probably be horrendous. Others, like the one Ray Allen is rolling with, will be awesome.
On Tuesday, Spike Lee shared a photo of the jersey Allen plans to wear when the Miami Heat take on the Boston Celtics on Jan. 21 and the Brooklyn Nets later in the season. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Lee’s film “He Got Game,” Jesus Shuttlesworth is the name of Allen’s character in the movie. Denzel Washington plays his father.
Fans love playing the Shuttlesworth angle with Allen, so this will undoubtedly be a huge hit. And hey, it’s a lot more unique than “King James.”
