Steve Nash says he would definitely consider joining the Heat next season

At age 38, Steve Nash is running out of time to capture an NBA championship. Nash has played in 118 career playoff games and has no ring to show for it. With only a few years left in the tank, he desperately wants to win a title before retiring. After this season, the Suns point guard will be a free agent. He says he wants to return to Phoenix, but unless the Suns put together a championship-caliber roster Nash will likely chase a ring elsewhere. From the sound of it, the Heat are on his short list.

“I’d listen (if the Heat made an offer),” Nash said on the Dan Patrick Show Thursday according to SLAM Online. “I love what they’re doing there. A lot of people don’t like them because they put all that talent together.

“But they’re professional, they play hard, they play together. Their coaching staff has done a great job. So, I have a tremendous amount of respect for them, and I would definitely listen.”

Unlike LeBron James and Chris Bosh, nobody would blame Nash for joining a team loaded with star power. He certainly wouldn’t be abandoning a fan base in the prime of his career. Nash is a two-time league MVP and eight-time All Star, so the accolades are all accounted for. If he thinks Miami gives him the best shot at winning a championship before he has to hang it up, then Miami is where he should go.
