Arizona fan starts petition to ban Bill Walton from calling Wildcats games
An Arizona basketball fan named Joel Laos has started an official petition to ban Bill Walton from calling Wildcats game.
The petition, which is currently running on Change.org and is addressed to ESPN and the Pac-12 Network, pleads with Arizona fans to “make Arizona basketball watchable again” by removing Walton from the air.
Of course, any decision to remove Walton from Arizona games would be up to ESPN and the Pac-12 network — not a bunch of disgruntled fans. That said, Laos had already gotten more than 900 of the 1,000 e-signatures he was seeking as of Friday morning.
Laos’ main argument is that Arizona fans mute their TVs to avoid constant “Waltonisms.” There is a website dedicated to Waltonisms, and here are some of the best.
“Come on, that was no foul! It may be a violation of all the basic rules of human decency, but it’s not a foul.”
“John Stockton is one of the true marvels, not just of basketball, or in America, but in the history of Western Civilization!”
“The art of tossing up the jump ball has really declined. These officials need to spend more time practicing in the offseason.”
The list goes on and on, and it’s a great reminder of why that radio show hung up on Walton a few years back. Good luck, Wildcat fans.
