Jalen Hurts had to watch from the sidelines during a critical juncture in the first half of Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears.
The Philadelphia Eagles had 2nd-and-4 in the red zone midway through the second quarter at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill. With no open targets in his line of sight, Hurts scrambled for the first down himself.
Hurts took a wicked tumble as Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson took him out just shy of the sticks. The referees ruled it a late hit and flagged Jackson for unnecessary roughness. The Eagles were also penalized for offensive holding, which offset the penalty against the Bears.

Hurts had to be evaluated for a concussion, a costly development for Philadelphia. Running back Saquon Barkley got the Eagles to the 1-yard line, but could not get any further. Facing 3rd-and-goal, the Eagles ran a pass play that resulted in backup Andy Dalton throwing an interception in the end zone.

The Eagles star wasn’t a happy camper throughout his stint in the medical tent either.

The Eagles did manage to bounce back with a touchdown drive to close out the first half. Hurts, who got himself cleared for Philly’s ensuing possession, snuck in a 1-yard TD with a second to play before halftime.
The Bears led the Eagles 10-7.
