Oklahoma St. CB Yves Batoba turns down Chad Ochocinco’s $750 free shoes offer because of NCAA

Oklahoma State cornerback Yves Batoba was offered a free pair of expensive shoes by Chad Ochocinco, but had to turn them down because of the NCAA.

Oklahoma State sports blog Pistols Firing tells us that Batoba is a big shoe guy, so he tweeted at Ochocinco lamenting that he doesn’t have Louboutin shoes like the Patriots wide receiver. Ochocinco offered to hook him up:

Batoba turned down the offer, reminding Ochocinco that accepting gifts would be an NCAA violation.

“Man if I wasn’t afraid of that being an NCAA violation, I would. They’ll get u for anything nowadays,” he told Ocho over Twitter. “Don’t worry NCAA, I turned em down… I know y’all were on yall’s way over here.”

Then he capped it off with the following tweet:

I tell you what, the real tragedy is not that a player can’t accept a gift because of the NCAA, but that someone is charging $750 for a pair of shoes.
