Charlie Murphy from Chappelle Show shares Prince tribute
Charlie Murphy and music legend Prince will always be linked for a truly humorous reason, but the respect Murphy has for Prince shined through when the comedian sent his condolences on the day of Prince’s death.
Here are the tributes Murphy sent about Prince:
#RIP Prince. Your music was the soundtrack to a special time in my life.

Though Prince’s popularity worldwide cannot be understated, he received an additional measure of notoriety and “street cred” thanks specifically to Murphy.
Back when he was on the short-lived Comedy Central mega-hit “Chappelle Show,” Murphy did a little sketch called “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories.” These are the sketches that turned both Prince and Rick James into memes and became Chappelle’s most famous works, much to the comedian’s dismay.
The Prince story is all about how the music legend schooled Murphy’s crew in a game of basketball. This is the birth of the great phrase “game blouses.” There is some bad language here, but it is truly an awesome video:
The best part is that last year, a Minnesota reporter dug up stories that proved Prince really was a good basketball player.
