Bernard Berrian robbed by former teammate who was with him earlier in day

Bernard Berrian spent eight seasons in the NFL, four with the Bears and four with the Vikings. Prior to that, he played for Fresno State. To Berrian’s surprise, when watching surveillance video of a burglary attempt at his home, he recognized the suspect as a former teammate and friend from his college days. And on top of that, Berrian was with him earlier in the day.

Therrian Fontenot and Berrian were hanging out at the same barbecue when Fontenot left. Little did Berrian know what would happen next.

“It was crazy because we were all sitting around and he actually left from where we were at to go do it,” said Berrian, via ABC30. “Boom, motion sensor went off, I get an email, so I click on the live cam.”

“I actually watched him doing it while he was doing it,” said Berrian. “I could have actually spoke to him, I got a microphone on there. I could have told him, I got you, while he was doing it.”

As Berrian was watching Fontenot go through his home, he noticed Fontenot really knew what he was doing.

“I was like, wow, he is a real professional, he takes a spray bottle with him to wipe off fingerprints and a towel.”

Berrian also noted Fontenot would inquire about his whereabouts, either to him directly or to his friends. Now we likely no why.

Fontenot will serve a six-month sentence and friend or no friend, Berriman understandably isn’t feeling overly sympathetic.

“I mean I hate seeing people go to jail and I hate seeing people get locked up but he got what he had coming to him,” he said.
