Brandon Marshall Will Play in NBA if There’s a Lockout…Seriously

If there’s no football in 2010 because of a lockout, not all of the players will be enjoying a year off.  Brandon Marshall, who is now the Miami Dolphins problem, insists that if the NFL locks out its 2010 season he will play for an NBA team.  No, the wide receiver isn’t joking.  He made sure ESPN’s Adam Schefter knew he wasn’t when asked if he would clarify what he means by he would pursue an NBA career:

Not pursuing — I’m going to be on an NBA team. Seriously.”

“My first team will be the Nuggets and my second team will be the Heat — I’m serious,” Marshall said.

So not only is Big Mouth Brandon going to play in the NBA for a year — he’s going to play for one of two teams.  Don’t worry.  Marshall didn’t just randomly pick the Nuggets and Heat.  There’s a method to his madness.  Phew.

There’s not going to be any football,” Marshall said.  “If there’s a lockout, I have to find a job. I figure the Nuggets will be a better choice because of the welcome home cheer I’ll get — a couple of boos at first.  I’m gonna get with a basketball coach and get to work, prepare for the lockout.”

We see where you’re coming from, Brandon.  You left Denver on such good terms and everything.  The people would probably be thrilled to have you back.  He failed to clarify why his second choice would be he Heat, but I think we can take a guess.  I think he might be on to something.  The Heat look like they’re about one piece away from being a championship contender.
