Kansas City Chiefs defensive end BJ Thompson was hospitalized this week following a medical emergency, and his agent has shared a new update.

The Chiefs canceled practice on Thursday after Thompson, a second-year reserve player, suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a team meeting. Thompson was transported to a local hospital, where he was said to be in stable condition.

On Thursday night, Thompson’s agent Chris Turnage told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network that Thompson remained unconscious but stable.

“BJ is still unconscious at this point, but he’s stable and vitals are good,” Turnage said. “His family asks for your continued prayers.”

The Chiefs, who are still in the voluntary portion of their offseason program, resumed practice on Friday.

Thompson was drafted by Kansas City in the fifth round in 2023. He played for Stephen F. Austin for four seasons after transferring there from Baylor. The 25-year-old appeared in one game as a rookie last year and had 2 solo tackles.
