Couple bids $100,000 for day with Tim Tebow
Yes, one couple bid $100,000 during a live auction that kicked off the Tim Tebow Celebrity Golf Classic on Friday night. The couple, who the Tim Tebow Foundation declined to identify, plans to spend the day with underprivileged children.
People were shocked at the amount of the winning bid and initially didn’t believe it until they found out who made it. Apparently it’s a couple that has donated to the foundation before.
“They live in a part of town that has a lot of people in need and a lot of people with a lot of wealth, and she felt like bringing Timmy to her town down there would maybe change the town,” said Erik Dellenback, the executive director of the foundation. “It sounds like she’s going to have a little event where she brings over some of the kids who are in need and some of the kids who are pretty deserving.
“I got goose bumps thinking about it because that’s what the night was. You thought (the bid) was for one reason — which you worry (because) you think, ‘Why is somebody paying $100,000?’ — and then you found out what their motives are and you’re just blown away by how God had moved in the room at the time,” he said.
Dellenback said he believes Tebow was even surprised at how much was bid. And Tebow thinks being down late in the fourth quarter is pressure? How about trying to make someone’s day knowing they spent $100,000 for it? Now that’s pressure.
So who won the bidding? Our money is on Adam Wainwright.
