Radio host Kevin Kiley blasts Bills for hiring female coach Kathryn Smith
Kathryn Smith made history on Wednesday by becoming the NFL’s first female full-time coach when she was hired by the Buffalo Bills for the role of special teams quality control coach. Not surprisingly, it took less than 24 hours for an idiotic shock jock to rant about how outraged he is.
Kevin Kiley, co-host of “The Kiley and Carman Show” on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, said it is “absurd” that the Bills would hire a female coach. He went on about it for more than 10 minutes, but the overall message was simple.
“There’s no place for a woman in professional sports, in football, coaching men,” Kiley said. “Men will not take to it. If you have 10 men on special teams, eight of them will be mumbling under their breath. You’re setting her up to fail. It’s not her fault, it’s the idiots who hired her.”
“This is the old conversation we had about having a woman vote for the Hall of Fame in football. It’s absurd. I mean do you really want your determination, whether you make the Hall of Fame in football, do you want a woman to have a vote on that, who’s never played the game and doesn’t understand the intensity of the game?”
Kiley went on about how men are physically stronger than woman and women don’t understand how intense the game of football is. At certain points, he literally sounded like a 5-year-old arguing that boys are better than girls. If you care to listen to the entire useless rant, feel free:
Kiley went on a similar rant when the NFL hired its first full-time female referee, so this is obviously his thing. He sounded just as moronic as that radio host who went on a sexist tweeting spree about ESPN having Jessica Mendoza on as an MLB analyst.
Time to get over it, gents.
