Ladarius Green reportedly being sidelined from training camp by headaches

New Steelers tight end Ladarius Green is providing some cause for concern with his continued absence from training camp, and now we know why he is being held out.

According to a report by Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network on Thursday, Green, who has yet to practice a single play for Pittsburgh this offseason, is being sidelined from camp by “recurring headaches.”

There had previously been some speculation that Green’s absence had to do with his ankle surgery in January, but the real root of the issue appears to be much more alarming. Green has a history of concussions and, as Kinkhabwala also notes, suffered three of them in less than one calendar year during his time in San Diego.

The 26-year-old Green caught 37 passes for 429 yards and four touchdowns for the Chargers in 2015. He signed a four-year, $25 million deal (plus a $4.75 million signing bonus) with the Steelers in March. If he can stay healthy, Green should see significantly more targets next season than he saw in San Diego, but now that’s looking more and more like a big if.
