Malcom Floyd hitThe Chargers were on their opening drive of the third quarter when Philip Rivers found Floyd over the middle. Strong safety Nate Allen was on Floyd’s back trying to bring him down, and linebacker DeMeco Ryans came in and smashed Floyd from the front. Floyd went head-first into Ryans’ body and collapsed to the ground.

Floyd was immobilized and taken off the field while the two teams gathered around in silence. He was later transported from the stadium in an ambulance after leaving with what was officially termed a neck injury.
