Aaron Rodgers may already know what he is planning to do for the 2026 NFL season.
In an appearance on 93.7 The Fan’s “The PM Team,” Steelers beat writer Mark Kaboly indicated that the team is expecting Rodgers back for one more season. He added that the Steelers are under the impression Rodgers still wants to play, and as long as that is the case, it will probably be with them.
“I think he will be their starting quarterback unless he comes to some kind of decision over the next month that he’s just done with football 100 percent,” Kaboly said, via Jeremy Pike of Steelers Depot. “This is him basically saying he’s coming back without him admitting he’s coming back. What I’ve heard a lot is they’re expecting him to come back. … They are under the impression that he still wants to play.”
Kaboly warned that things are never certain with Rodgers until there is a signed contract, but that the Steelers are operating as if he will return.
New Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy has been in contact with Rodgers, but is giving the quarterback space to make a decision on his future. McCarthy has made clear that he would love to have Rodgers back for one more season.
Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards with 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions for the Steelers last season. He led them to a playoff berth, though they were smothered by the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card round.
