Mike Vrabel shares amazing reason for running trick play on Patriots
The Tennessee Titans made quite the statement on Sunday with an emphatic road win that included a double reverse call in the fourth quarter with the game well in hand.
With just under 11 minutes to go and the Titans already up 27-10, the Titans called a double reverse that led to a first down catch for quarterback Marcus Mariota. Many noticed that it was essentially the same play as one the Patriots had just tried to run on the previous drive, albeit with much less success.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel, genuinely or not, effectively confirmed that the Titans were looking to outdo the Patriots with the playcall.
Mike Vrabel on running the double-reverse pass shortly after the Patriots did: "I wanted to see if it looked any better than theirs."
It did.

Vrabel spent the bulk of his career playing under Bill Belichick in New England, where he won three Super Bowls. It’s certainly fitting, as that’s a pretty Belichick-like mentality to take in a situation like that one.
