If Ray Lewis was searching for bulletin board material prior to the Baltimore Ravens’ win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, he didn’t have to look very hard to find it. The billboard you see above was the brainchild of a Massachusetts billboard company last week. Obviously, it was inaccurate.
Lewis’ career did not end in Foxboro, and he says the billboard actually helped motivate him to keep it going for another two weeks.
“I was hurt when I saw a sign that actually said my retirement would [start] tonight,” Lewis said according to Boston.com. “Man can’t dictate that. God dictates that.”
Clear Channel Communications called themselves out for being wrong, so we can give them at least some credit for not just hiding after their smack talk fell through:
However, nothing says justice like a billboard response in your own hometown that basically tells the opponent you just threw a beating on to shove it:
