Report: Shoulder injury could cause Drew Brees to miss several games

Drew Brees

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees admitted after Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that a shoulder injury affected some of his throws in the second half. Apparently that same injury could force him to miss some significant time.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Saints believe Brees’ injury could result in him potentially missing several games. Chris Mortensen later reported that an MRI revealed a bruised rotator cuff and not a tear.

Rapoport’s report is somewhat of a surprise considering Brees played through it against Tampa and did not seem overly concerned.

You can see a video of the hit here.

The Saints weren’t looking like a playoff team with Brees through the first two weeks, and they can likely kiss their season goodbye if the 36-year-old misses multiple games. A depleted passing game will look even worse without Brees in the lineup.

If the shoulder injury becomes something that nags Brees for all of 2015, the most notable thing he does this year could wind up being killing that alligator. Saints fans need to keep their fingers crossed.
