Titans Accuse Saints of Cheating by Blowing Whistle on the Sidelines

If everything the Titans are saying about their 22-17 loss to the Saints is true, New Orleans was not exactly playing nicely.  Earlier, we told you how receiver Nate Washington accused Roman Harper of being a dirty player for grabbing him by the facemask and then doing this.  The second accusation is a bit more severe; Tennessee is saying a whistle was being blown from the New Orleans bench area late in the game.

Offensive lineman Jake Scott claims Dean McCondichie, the producer of the team’s television show “Titans All Access,” has evidence that it was indeed happening while the Titans were on offense.

“Dean’s got it on tape,” Scott said according to ESPN.com. “Somebody was blowing a whistle on the sideline. There is audio of it, so we’ll let it go from there. The second to last drive I think.”

“During the game we heard this whistle blowing, but they weren’t stopping the game, they just kept playing,” McCondichie explained. “They were loud enough for me to hear it on the microphone on (offensive lineman Michael Roos). They were all trying to figure out why play continued. I asked them if they knew where it came from and they said the New Orleans bench. Nobody saw it, but it was pretty loud and it was definitely a whistle.”

McCondichie said the whistle was definitely loud enough for several Titans players to hear it.  The team is looking into the matter, and obviously the Saints would be facing huge penalties if the league were to determine that something like that was going on.  For what it’s worth, Sean Payton and Bill Belichick are close friends.

I do not believe that.  The Titans are sore losers.  If anyone was cheating it was them.  I saw two of the Saints touch downs taken back, because of whatever reason.  Even with that happening, the Titans could not win.  Get a life Titans…No one believes that bull cramp, except for your Titans fans.

So if you are a friend of Bill Belichick you are automatically labeled a cheater? Huh? I believe Steve Delvecchio went to UConn. UConn has had issues with recruiting scandals, then doesn’t that mean Steve Delvecchio must be a dishonest sportswriter since he went to UConn? Today’s sportswriters need to grow up and learn how to report the news. Give me a break.

Anyone who reads this blog also knows Steve DelVecchio is a die hard, life-long Patriots fan. That was a joke. Relax.

Really felt the need to cheapshot Bill Belichick in this story ? And here I thought it was just the LMSM that was going all-in with showing no class in journalism. Now you’re just another jerk with a press pass  –  way to go, DelVecchio.

Really…..can’t you find a better excuse than that!!!  Whistle blowing……what losers and cry babys the Titans are.  The Saints are probably one of the most (if not the most) honest football teams they have in the league. It’s bad enough they had a lot of bad calls against them…..and as far as Roman Harper goes….what a hell of a football player he is!!! Suck up your loss and take it like men…..oh that’s right you can’t because ya’ll are nothing but sore losers!!!! tocopa

  • Anonymous

I have a press pass?!?!?! When did that happen?!?!?! That’s awesome!

  • Anonymous

So let me guess…the only people to hear this “whistle” was Titan players?? Are there no refs on the sidelines???? Oh that’s right….The refs didn’t hear them but the Titans did….gimme a break you sore losers…You couldn’t win the game when the “refs” were blowing whistles when they shouldn’t have….they took back 2 touchdowns…was that not enough for you to win…..apparently not…LOL!!

THE SAINTS WERE CHEATED ALL GAME BY THE TITANS AND REFS, these guys are such loser, sissy, cheating, punk, female dogs acronym, two touchdowns taken away after the fact that they were touchdowns, and they are gonna suggest the Saints are the cheaters, what a f’ing laugh, ive never seen a game where the cheating was so blatant, even on tv, replay and all they still stole those 2 touchdowns with no hesitation. It was a clear case of home cook cheating, and their acting like the Saints needed a whistle to beat them, how gay, the Titans should have never been in the game in the first place, the only reason they were is because the refs put them there, period. The arent in the same class as the Saints and this bs they screaming proves it, take your sorry a$$ team and refs and GTF.

Im a saints fan and admittedly i heard whistling: but it after the game ended and we won.  If you find out we whistled we will give you 1 touch down but we want the one that was mistakenly ruled out of bounds..  We still win and we are still whistling

No crap. Really. The Titans had the refs in their back pockets and STILL couldn’t win? So let me get this straight – hitting Locker within a second of him throwing is considered roughing yet bodyslamming Brees to the ground a good 2 seconds after he throws isn’t roughing? I never saw a Titan player stop after these so-called “whistles” were blown. Maybe Hasselbeck “hurt his calf” (wah wah) so he could blow someone’s whistle.

If it was such a blatant cheat, why didn’t the refs hear it…or why didn’t the Titan players whine about it to the refs? Since they were in the Titan’s back pockets anyway, they would’ve probably done something about it.

I guess Chris Wilson is a typical jealous Falcon fan. Go cry in your spilled milk since your team’s 13-3 record last year was an obvious FLUKE. WHO DAT!

If the Saint’s were not playing against the ref’s & the Titan’s the game would have been over a long time ago, when you have two ref’s running side by side blowing the whistle for a dead ball & calling it several yards apart, that tells me that they were cheating & pulling for the Titan’s. It was clear when they stole (TWO TOUCH DOWNS BY THE SAINT’s) the ball on National TV. If anyone is to be investigated it should be the Ref’s, & what role that the Titan’s had in the  under table calls.bThat was a Bookie Game & the Ref’s were PAID out!!!

No his foot was out of bounds. At first i agreed with you, but it was too close to overturn the call on the field which was incomplete. That is why they left it alone. Fox blew it up and it clearly shows his cleat touched the white part before his knee hit. There was whistling. Idk how much but I did hear it too

The Refs SHOULD be investigated.  Graham’s incomplete touchdown reception was a touchdown.  One foot in, heel touches in.  That’s a score.  Period.  For any player.  On any team.   2. Martez Wilson “hold”? on Sproles’ touchdown?  Where was the hold? Nowhere.  15 penalties in the first half, yet they absolutely defy hi-definition replays…  And yet, this Saints team played on.

Titans, you got psyched out.  Believing these things would cave in the Saints.  That’s on you.  You lost composure.  IN YOUR OWN STADIUM.  And now you grasp at “whistle-blowing” straws for you last two drives??

Titan fans, losing sucks.  Any Saints fan over 20 can rattle off a litany of the most bizarre losses in Saints’ history, but I don’t think we ever accused a team of whistle blowing.

Titans, if you want to win games.  Score touchdowns.  I suppose the Saints put a VooDoo hex on Hassleback to cause his calf injury as well.

The Saints’ defense gave you two great opportunities at the end of the game to win the game.  You could not do it.  Because you don’t know (yet) how to finish a game.  Right now, the Saints do.

As far as the “whistle” thing… blow it outta yer a$$…

When has Payton ever, ever, ever been accused of playing dirty ball? No film of it, but they say heard, yes and I hear the [Pitans] suck… if Payton caught a Saints player doing that he would most likely beat him to death with one of his crutchs, then fire what was left!

    Hey dude,  are you serious???????????????????????
    “Cheaters”???
It was not the Titans who called the TD’s back,  it was the refs.  So dont say we Cheated.  We didnt have to pull someone down by his facemask to prevent a TD,   your team did.
We also made the first down on 4th and inches that should have allowed us to win that Game.
Bottom line is hey we lost,  But we aint Cheaters.

Oh his cleat touched did it ? If it did it was after both his feet came down in bounds. If a toe counts so does the heel.

For all you Saint fans out there, I ask that you all quit saying this crap about “crying” about a “ghost” whisstle that only the Titans heard.  If you will wait a bit longer and see what kinda evidence comes from this,  (the tape/recording)
then I’m sure you will all agree that it did in fact happen.then you can all take a big ol bite out of my A**

An audio tape of a while being blown w/o  vidoe of a Saint’s player doing it means nothing.  I agree with the person who said if Payton saw any of his players doing that he would’ve beat them to death with one of his crutches.  Also if it was that noticable why DIDN’T the refs hear it and do something about it?  Just food for thought.

  • Michael Rogers

    Chris stop smoking that crap!!

Bill Beli-up-chuck will use any advantage he can get over the other team.  His favorite is to monitor the other coaches headset to see what plays are being called.  His team knows exactly what is coming.  Another “trick” is using a high strength adhesive on the gloves receivers wear.  Note no balls “squirt” thru Patriot receivers hands. This high strength adhesive does not come off on the ball thereby making it untraceable.

It”s hard to believe Bill’s illegal advantage “tricks” have rubbed off on Sean Payton but this sure sounds like it.

Well, how about the gift the titans got on the touchdown by the saints ruled not a touchdown by review of all things when we could see on tv that the new orleans receiver had his foot in bounds and never touched the line. You don’t hear them whining about that  gift. How about their own quarterback who did not even  air it before going down in the end. Now how stupid is that? Besides there are always a million distractions on a field and the players are trained to never stop until they are 100% sure even when they hear a whistle. Its just titan sour grapes. They’re just embarassed at such a bad play on the quarterback  in the end. It could have gone either way so shut up and have some dignity unlike the stupid refs in many games yesterday with lousy calls and no calls.

  • Anonymous

Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker must not have been wearing theirs on the 1-yard line yesterday

  • Paul Ziomek

LOL, if you go for 4th and inches and you can’t clearly get the first down you dont deserve it. Even if they had, its as likely they would have stalled as could have scored a TD. However, the officiating at Sundays game stunk so badly that its about time they have super referees review all calls and missed calls on video. Not only that but demote or fine referees for missing calls, there should be accountability for bad calls. If the refs know their jobs are on the line youll see the difference immediately.  The Sproles runback hold call was ridiculous, the nonreversal  on Grahams TD catch stunk. “Anything thats worth winning is worth cheating for………….”

  • Anonymous

Hey Paul,  I will have to agree with you on the officiating on this game. It was lousy at best, but I also think it was on both sides of the ball.  The TD runback call was not a good call,  I agree,  but the TD catch out of bounds, I think was a good call.  But I also think the 4th and inches call was as you say…. Clearly made.  It should have been challenged, and I blame the Titans Coaching staff for that Blunder.
But the point of my post was all the about whistle blowing
and dirty playing by certain players (or player) .
and I dont mean to offend anyone with my post

  • Ivan Sykes

I would like to say that I am a Titans fan. First off, the Titans played a great game and held the number 1 offense to 22 pts. Second I would like to say that Jake Locker (who replaced Hasselbeck who went out like a punk) and Nate Washington (who was playing on a bad ankle) both had great games. The Saints are a great team and I dont know about any whistles, but I did notice that during the last few seconds of the game on the last play just about every defensive back on the Saints did some type of pass interference. It was a great game that ended in a dirty way. I dont know what wouldve happen but I do know that the Titans would have had a better chance of winning had it not been for the Saints defensive backs.

  • Anonymous

and your third point is… ,  Ivan Sykes, …to apply for a sports anlayst job with ESPN since you think you have it all figured out…NERD. This is football!!! NOISES happens at all games. I think the players on the sidelines were dillusional from sitting on the pine too long! Their  (TITANS) minds need to be focused on the next game instead of a  game that is OVER! Maybe the TITAN players will buy some binoculars for the next game to spy on the sidelines for any whistle blowers (LOL)!

  • Anonymous

So when did whistle blowing become a dirty thing oh thats right its only dirty when its aginst your team not the opposing team. Thats why when a ref blows throws the flag aginst “your” team you boo and cheer when its aginst the opposing team. I heard that the COLTS use to play whistle blowing through the audio system and they stopped doing so and now look at them. Also if the fans in Nashville where any thing like the Fans in New Orleans you would not be able to hear a whistle on the feild. 80 that is the decible level of and( I got this from the internet) Noisy office, electric shaver, alarm clock, police whistle<<<<. The Dome reaches 110 decibels…("At 125 decibels, pain begins, experts say. And at 140 decibels, short-term exposure to the noise can cause permanent damage.") and yes that is when opposing teams feeel the pain.

The entire game was expected to be thrown to the titans point blank thats all there is to it, Now alot of NFL Sponsors / Clients are pissed because the Saints won, even with there OBVIOUS power stroking Officials Failing to pull it off. The Saints was NOT supposed to win, Yet they Prevailed. After watching the recorded Game on my DVR very carefully reviewing each  play (i even SLOW MO’ed) I counting 15 Holding Calls the titans NEVER got Called for, 2 Facemasks on the line of scrimmage , 3 Illegal Blocks to the back, 1 Clipping, 5 Pass Interference, 4 personal fouls, 1 Taunting,  5 push offs , Not one of these calls where called against the titans, Yet if the saints touched someone they got flagged. Cheating Hell NO! They had 3 TD’s Taken By Bad Officiating, and Possibly 4 considering the BS personal Foul Calls. The biggest joke of the game to me was the Graham Touchdown, he had 3 points of contact in the end zone before his toe touched the line, I have seen less effort and less end zone Contact be given a TD. SO yes have a NON-Biased Person review the game, AND FINE THE Ref’s NOT the players. In the END at the last 6 plays of the game the Saints started Playing dirty, and didn’t get flagged, I counted a total of 2 holds, 1 push off, ehh so let me get this right if you play fair and just you get flagged for breathing on someone, if you play dirty you don’t get flagged WTH is going on with those zebra stripped nut jobs.

Come on Titans really thats all you can come up with to justify your  loss  first of all i would be ashamed to blame a loss like that on someone blowing a whistle on the sidelines if you look  at the stats in the game. The game wasn’t even close as the score said it was it was a blowout no pun intended .However i will say this their were bad calls made against both teams. More bad calls made against the Saints than the Titans. The officalls in that game were really terrible even the replay offical missed a call when Jimmy Graham tochdown was ruled out of bounds. As for  the whistle being blown on the sideline audio is not sufficate evidence video would be needed to prove such a alligation but if anyone comes up with any video i would hope that the same guy that was reveiwing Jimmy Grahams tochdown is not involed in reviewing any video evidence

SO funny how your stupid insignificant little team and comment just goes to show what a fAg u r, everyone seems to agree, you are an idiot, and the saints will be playing for a championship, while you watch on the couch. hahahaha, that dont mean i wont be nice and give you some badly needed advice, jenny craig has a great christmas special so there is no reason for you to not lose the weight, i hear the food is great and when you order you can remove your foot from your mouth, after all, the cheese you are using from it is rotten, stinky, and full of bacteria and athletes foot, you can mayble lose about 20 lbs, and be able to see your little bird when you pee for the new year. We will celebrate a superbowl and you can celebrate, well , nothing. Poor chrissy, sucks being an unlovable loser, just thank God u have jake locker to help yall out in the future

  • Anonymous

the titans did play great, ivan, but remember he was out of the pocket so there was no dirty pass interference, it would have been called like all the other ghost penalties they called on the saints that cost the saints a 18 point swing, the td on the punt return, there was NO hold, they called it on a guy who wasnt even on field and after we made the td, then they call a mystery hold on the pass to graham that went to the two yrd line, plus the td they took away from graham so that is 14 point they cheated the saints out of plus the 4 point we lost kicking a field goal when it should have been 1st n goal from the 2, so the game really shouldnt have been close at all, but jake locker looks great and i believe he will lead the titans to a title before its said and done. the whistle bs, is just what it sounds like, bs. best of luck in the future,

Love hearing these cry baby excuses that the saints would ever have to cheat the oilerstitans, what a freaking hilarious joke, only whistling going on was after the game and the saints won, the clear cheating had to be vegas related in favor of the titans, and the refs still couldn’t have cheated any more than they did before the league was exposed for point shaving period, ive never seen so many game deciding calls against one team (the saints_), our players couldnt fart without being flagged and had 3 tds stolen, we were cheated and still won, what else could u ask for, the refs tried to give yall the game and yall blew it, not us.
