Brady Takes Shot at Patriot Fans

Tom Brady may hate the Jets, but it would appear he’s got a hint of jealousy toward their rabid fan base.  The Pats generally enjoy great success at Gillette Stadium, but it’s no secret that their fan base doesn’t exactly give them a noteworthy home-field advantage.  In typical Brady fashion, the Pats quarterback managed to slip in a little jab at New England fans for leaving the game against the Bengals early last Sunday:

The road environment is very different than our friendly home crowd, who when I looked up, half the stadium was gone when we were up 21 points early fourth quarter, which I wasn’t so happy about,” Brady said. “I don’t think the Jets fans leave early. They’re going to be loud the whole game. Communication is always an issue.”

Burned. Tom did his best to put his comment into context and make it sound like he’s just talking about something they need to prepare for in traveling to New Meadowlands Stadium, but he raises an excellent point about the Pats home crowd.

For whatever reason (old people, spoiled fans, too many yuppies with the option of sitting in a luxury box or outside in a regular seat), New England fans don’t get loud anymore. I’m the type of guy that wants to stand up the entire game, so I definitely expect to be standing on big defensive third downs. Yet, somehow I feel uncomfortable doing that at Gillette Stadium. Going to the games is fun, but not as fun as it could be.

Maybe the Krafts have created too much of a family-friendly environment. Maybe season-ticket holders are just afraid to give up their seats despite not caring about the team anymore. The players have made many comments about it in the past and nothing seems to change. I’m thinking about buying the team and turning this thing around, so let me know if you’re interested in making an investment.
