Tom Brady may now be heading to court to settle his suspension dispute with the NFL, but it sounds like he tried to work things out beforehand.
NFL reporter Judy Battista reported on NFL Network Tuesday that Brady and the league were moving close to a 1-game suspension settlement. However, she says the NFL balked at Brady’s desire to have the records sealed:
Interesting. @judybattista says the sides were moving close to a 1-game suspension settlement. But Brady wanted records sealed. NFL wouldn’t

Brady reportedly has given the NFLPA his approval to move forward with a federal lawsuit to resolve the matter. NFLPA executive director George Atallah denies that the sides were close on a settlement.
Any report that suggests two sides were coming close on a settlement in the Brady matter is rubbish. Plain and simple, rubbish.

It’s hard to take Atallah’s word because he is so biased in the case. This report is not a big surprise because previous indications were that the sides were in negotiations about a settlement. The report also reflects poorly on Brady. Just like his refusal to turn over his phone to the league, his desire to have the records sealed makes it look like he’s trying to hide something.
