Tommy Kelly calls loss to Dolphins ’embarrassing’

The Dolphins may have earned their first win of the season with a 35-13 thumping of the Raiders on Sunday, but they still have a long way to go before gaining complete respect from their opponents.

Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, who had four tackles including one for a loss, termed the loss to the Dolphins “embarrassing,” and had even more harsh words.

Upset that his team blew a 10-7 halftime lead, Kelly unloaded after the loss.

“In the NFL, you can’t fall behind too far. You aren’t going to dig yourselves out of a hole on this level,” Kelly said of the team’s 0-2 start, per Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times.

“This week was must-win. But, Miami, we’re supposed to have this one. I’m sorry. You take your hats off to them, but, hey, if we can’t beat Miami, it’s going to be rough. It’s going to be rough.”

Even though the Raiders suffered an “embarrassing” loss to the Dolphins and are 0-2, Kelly is still optimistic about his team’s future, saying that Oakland is “talented.”

For being such a talented team, they didn’t look too good to me on Sunday. They were outrushed 263 yards to 23. Either Miami isn’t as bad as Kelly makes them out to be, or Oakland isn’t as good as he thinks they are. I think it’s a little bit of both.
